We pray for the people who have been affected.

The Kyoto College of graduate studies for Infomatics and KCG has established an emergency headquarters.

We are continues to confirm the safety of our students, Alumni and their family.

Dear our friend of KCG and KCGI

As you know about the earthquake hit in the north east of Japan on 11th of March.
As far as I know about the damage in Kyoto, we have no damage.
I am in China now, therefore I cannot report any detail report now.
But your worry of us is greatly appreciated.
Helping each other in the world will bring peace I believe.
I wish many people stay in safe in the area where the earthquake hit.

３月１１日に地震がありましたね。私はいま中国にますが，BBS World NewsやNHK World Newsで何回も何回も繰り返し報道しています。この地震による津波の情報がハワイやアジアの各所に伝達されたというニュースも流れています。アメリカのオバマ大統領や，国連事務総長が日本へのどのような援助も惜しまないというメッセージも報道されています。日本にいると，世界からどのように報道されているかわからないかもしれませんが，大変なことが起きたということで注目されています。

　7月7日七夕の日にマイケル　ジャクソンさんの追悼式が行われた。（日本時間では8日）
私がアメリカに留学していたころ、毎日のようにテレビからは彼の曲が流れていた。音楽専門のチャンネルMTVやVH1は月になんどもMichael Jacksonの特集を放送していた。英語が難しい、ドラマやニュースなんかよりずっと、MTVを見ていた。
　自分がアメリカの大学で時間ぎりぎりに授業にすべりこみ、課題に追われていた頃の様々な思い出といっしょに彼の歌とダンスが思い浮かぶ。
いま、youtubeなどで彼の追悼式の様子が流れている。新聞には10億人が泣いたと伝えられていた。友人である女優のブルック・シールズが、彼は「King of Pop」と言われていたが、自分にとっては「Little Prince」。本当にピュアで、才能の持ち主だった。彼は人の目は何も見えはしない、心で見なければ真実はみえてこない。彼の一番好きな歌はチャップリンの「Smile」、そしてその歌詞には「心が痛くても笑顔を」とある。だから今日も笑顔で送ると言っていた。
　アフリカ飢餓救援のために作られた曲、「We are the world」はMichael Jacksonの代表的な曲のひとつ。過去に作られたものだが、その歌詞は現在の世界にまさに必要なものを訴えている。自分と同年代であったスーパースターがこの世を去り、彼にまつわって思い出されることがらが遠い過去に置き去りにされたように感じ、とても寂しい。
